Milky Way Captured in Singapore during TinyMOS meetup
Minor post campaign update. Milky Way captured in Singapore by local photographer. More information inside.
It has been awhile since we posted on our blog. We’ve been meeting suppliers and manufacturers for the past two weeks back to back. We are thrilled by the results on Indiegogo and thankful for your support. The discussion and coordination for manufacturing is well underway. We will have a more major update in the next 2 weeks.

On the last day of the campaign, we met with Mentorgraphians. They are a group of photography enthusiasts in Singapore. The group consists of a vibrant community of landscape and architecture photographers. They organize meetings to exchange photography skills and insights within the group. The casual meeting was held over a barbecue session, at Aloha Changi resort.
We gave them a quick demo of what the Tiny1 can do for astronomy. With a 300mm lens borrowed from one of their members, we showed them the rings of Saturn on the Tiny1 prototype. The Moon appeared with Jupiter alongside that night. It would have fit nicely within the frame of Tiny1, unfortunately we were hindered by intermittent clouds and the treeline.
A small group of the party went to the front porch of the chalet and setup their tripods. It was the first attempt to image the Milky Way for some. The more senior members gave them tips and advice on imaging our home galaxy. Here’s the results from one of the group’s leaders, Andrew:
Being able to capture the Milky Way in one of the most light polluted cities requires a lot of skills. It also requires patience and knowledge of local conditions. We are impressed by the skills of the photographers in the club. It was also heartening to know that with the right knowledge and skills, no one is out of reach of imaging our home galaxy.
We hope that Tiny1’s geotagging platform that will be launch within a year of camera delivery, can help more people explore pockets of clear skies within their cities.
Tiny1’s geotagging platform is a cloud system where users can upload their astronomy images and geotag the location that it was captured from. It will help new users find good stargazing locations in their immediate vicinity, or a destination they wish to explore. Experienced users can also use this feature to organize meetings or explore new ground.
